Cycling Egypt is an initiative of www.tour.tk - what a wonderful world tour.

We, Sonya Spry and Aaldrik Mulder, arrived in Egypt by bicycle in December 2010 and cycled through most of the country:
from Salloum at the border with Libya via Mersa Metrouh to Alexandria and Cairo. From here we crossed the Western Desert to reach Luxor and Aswan. It is here that we witnessed the start of the Egyptian Revolution that eventually toppled Mubarak in February 2011. We went back to Luxor, crossing the Eastern Desert to Hurghada after which we took a bus to Suez. From here we cycled the Sinai: first to St. Catherine, on to Dahab, north to Nuweiba and back to St. Catherine. This is where we decided to take a break from cycling and enjoy Bedouin hospitality and stunning scenery for a year. And this is where this website was born.
